The Fellowship of the
Volleyball
Host Calvary Baptist Academy beat Fellowship Christian School of
Carson City 15-4, 15-13 Tuesday in nonconference volleyball action.
Tiffany Trometer had a team-high seven kills for the Kings, while
Melinda Clifton had five kills and an ace. Cheryl VanHolstyn had
nine points served, four aces, five kills and block. Holli McCargar
had six points served, two kills and two assists.
The match was Calvarys regular season finale and brings the
Kings record to 3-9 overall. They will begin district competition
Saturday at Bridgeport Baptist Academy.
Bridgport Slammers Bring

Bridgeport Baptist Academy beat Calvary Baptist Academy 15-3, 15-5
Tuesday in Central Michigan Christian Athletic Conference volleyball
action.
Alicia Stafford led the host Kings with three points served and
four blocks, while Julie VanHolstyn had two points and a kill. Carla
Clifton had two points served and Tiffany Trometer had a kill and
five blocks.
Calvary (2-8 overall, 0-3 CMCAC) will be in action Friday at Skeels
Christian.

Faith Baptist of Davison beat host Calvary Baptist Academy 15-3,
15-7 Friday in nonconference volleyball action.
CBA's Holli McCargar had three points served, two aces and two assists.

Bridgeport Baptist Trips

Jan. 20
Bridgeport Baptist Academy defeated Calvary Baptist Academy 15-5,
15-4 in a Central Michigan Christian Athletic Conference volleyball
match Tuesday.
"(Bridgeport has) an outstanding setter and two big hitters
and they kept whaling us," CBA coach Judy Nellis said. "We
had some good volleys, but they (Bridgeport) were too good."
Cheryl VanHolstyn led the Kings with five points while Holli McCargar
had one point, one ace, one kill and one assist.
CBA (2-4 overall) returns to action Tuesday at home against Community
Baptist.
Midland Academy Handily
Conquered - Jan. 13
Calvary Baptist Academy defeated Midland Academy 15-11, 15-1 in
volleyball action Tuesday at Calvary Baptist.
Holli McCargar led the Kings with 15 points and 12 aces. Cheryl
VanHolstyn added 10 points and five aces.
CBA will travel to Bridgeport Baptist Academy next Tuesday.
Kings of Midland vs. Kings of
Shield- Jan. 9
Community Baptist of Shields beat Calvary Baptist Academy 15-11,
15-11 in Central Michigan Christian Athletic Conference volleyball
action Friday.
Alicia Stafford had five points, an ace and a block for the Kings,
while Cheryl VanHolstyn had four points, an ace, and a kill. Holli
McCargar had four points and two aces, and Carla Clifford had four
points.
Calvary (1-3 overall) will host Midland Academy on Tuesday.
Comeback Kings- Dec. 18
After a devastating first game to the Beth Haven Baptist, host Cavalry
Baptist Academy came back to win the volleyball match 1-15, 15-12,
15-12 on Thursday. The girls played as if they had just awoke from
a daze. "We started off pretty poor but we won the next two,"
CBA coach Judy Nellis said. "We were actually behind in the
third game but we were able to come back and get it." Good
team play and some nice hitting seemed to turn the tide.
Alicia Stafford led CBA with seven kills and three aces. Holly McCargar
added six assists with two kills and three aces while Carla Clifton
led the team with eight service points.
CBA (1-1) travels to Faith Baptist on Jan. 6.
CBA Falls to FBA- Dec. 5
Calvary Baptist Academy opened its volleyball
season with a 9-15, 15-12, 15-10 loss to visiting Fellowship Baptist
of Carson City on Friday.
Alicia Stafford led the Kings with 18 service points, including
three aces, while Holly McCargar had five points, including three
aces, and three kills. Julie VanHolstyn had six points, while Cheryl
VanHolstyn notched six kills.
CBA (0-1) will host an eight-team tournament next Saturday.
