Academy? Christian? What's in a Name?

Plato's AcademyAn academy (Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of higher learning, research, or honorary membership. The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, north of Athens.

Because of the tradition of intellectual brilliance associated with this institution, many groups have chosen to use the word "Academy" in their name. This is the standard we have chosen to strive for at Calvary Baptist Academy. This should also be the goal of all believers - excellence in all things to the glory of God. "Christian" literally means little Christ's. There is no higher standard.

Are we living up to our name? Are you living up to yours?
